A Part of You
You sit and gaze at nothing, consumed and stunned by grief
A part of you is missing; it seems you’ll never find relief!
One minute you are laughing, the next you sob and cry
And you ask yourself one question, ‘Oh why, oh why, oh why’?
But soon you’ll get to treasure, all your memories, they’re gold
Things to pass on to your family, friends – all stories must be told
And daily you’ll get stronger and you’ll change your point of view
When you realize the one you’ve lost is alive and part of you.
Do not push those thoughts away, or leave them all behind
Embrace the thoughts of highs and lows that come into your mind
They’re your fabric and your being, your conscience and your soul
The glue that makes your life complete, the part that makes you whole
