The Silence

The silence is saddening , maddening, severe

It’s confusing, you’re losing, nothing is clear

What’s defined you, is behind you, where is the light

Seems it’s nowhere, I swear it’s not in plain sight

No handclaps or backslaps, your worth not so much

Of those days when your plays were crucial and clutch

Your game has lost ya, feel an imposter, more over time

Can’t deny it, so quiet from when you were in your prime

On this earth, your own self worth is hardest to find

Falling from hero to zero in your own troubled mind

Where’s the light, it’s constantly night, what lies ahead

It taunts you, it haunts you, it fucks with your head

It’s a local, a focal, nationwide situation at play

Through sad choosing, we’re losing legends each day

Not what you played for, or paid for - a loss of esteem

Life an unending, unbending nightmarish dream

Raise your voice, make your choice I’m here for you man

Tell ‘em you care, hey please share, all with me you can

The reason I’m hear, is so clear that somebody dared

By persistin’ and listening and just showed they cared
